A little poetry to get your day on its way...

Bells of Notre Dame

The Bells are chiming
A loud strong rythm
To the tune of Notre Dame.

As the notes float heavenward
The music floats outward
To the tune of Notre Dame.

Over the centuries
The bells keep  ringing
The bells are hoisted
The people rejoicing
The bells of Notre Dame.

The city's feasting
Under the shade
Of the bells of Notre Dame.

This is a poem that has been floating around in my head so I decided to write it down and share it with everyone. I hope you have a fantastic day and that it only continues to get better, for where else can something go but up?

Lenten Journey, Part 2

Hello everyone, this lent has been extremely spiritual and welcomed. It has helped to have a young group of people to help teach and guide through this wonderful season. lately I've been working with them to put together a lenten lapbook. It is a very thourough and engaging project. It covers everything from confession to Holy Week. And each part of the project has an explanation of what it is for everyone to take home.

This week our group discussed what it means to transform our world, and in doing so, eventhough it is lent, to do so joyfully.
matthew 6:6
But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your father who is in secret, and your father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.

This is our weekly Challenge, We are going to transform the world by acting as Christ in our society, promoting modesty, kindness, joyful hearts, integrity, honesty, and hearts that are always open. Please pray for the youth as they continue through this spiritual journey.

And yes, I would looooove to hear your prayer intentions. Everyone needs prayers. Let me know in the comments.

We are the easter people, show confidence in your smiles and kindness.

Ash Wednesday

You are dust, and unto dust shall you return.

It is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of another lenten season. This year, as with every year, we work hard to become repentant Christians. By giving up, or adding something to our everyday lives.

This year I am working with a group of girls, trying to put together different activities for them to do that are centered around lent. One of the activities is taking a box and putting paper slips of different good deeds in it. Everyday you take out a paper slip and do the good deed.

With this theme in mind, everyday I am going to try to post a good deed/ prayer request on the blog. If anyone needs a prayer request during this prayerful season of lent, please comment and know with confidence that it is being prayed for.

Today the good deed is attending Ash Wednesday Mass. It is important to do this and recognize the beginning of this holy season. Also EWTN radio has Mass live that you can listen to. Even though it does not count, it is a good idea to listen to christian things today. Have a blessed Ash Wednseday.

Just a little drabble.........

This is the place where I've grown up and lived my entire life. While to others it may seem dull and boring, to me it holds more treasures than I care to count.
Everyday, ordinary things taken in a new perspective(one of a child) become the most exiting and invigorating parts of life.
Such as the thought that you could reach up and pick a lamp from the sky. That life is simple and free. That one day we will fly.
And it's true. Maybe one day we will fly. Until then, we walk the earth, wearing down our own unique paths that life creates for us.
And while we do so, we can continue walking with the crowd. We can try to blend in, walk with the 'in' crowd. Or, we can choose to dance in the rain.

Today

I am not afraid of tomorrow, for I have seen yesterday and love today.
Living day-to-day, no worries about tomorrow is not a reality that very many of us face. Many people face the reality of waking up hungry and wondering where their next meal will come from. They don't have that luxury.
The people that don't have that particular luxury in life have one that so many of us take for granted.
The appreciation of the promises of God around us. A smile here, a rainbow there. They are endless. Every once in a while it's good and wonderful for us to take a moment and look around us. Maybe walk home and take in the smell of the wheat in the field. The simple sunflower growing on the side of the road. The sunrise in the morning.
Let's all stop and smell the roses every now and then.

Blessed Mother Teresa's Prayer

People are often unreasonable, irrational and self-centered.
Forgive Them Anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.
Be Kind Anyway.
If you are successful, you will some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies.
Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and sincere people may deceive you.
Be honest and sincere anyway.
What you spend years creating, others could destroy overnight.
Create Anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous.
Be Happy Anyway.
The good you do today, will often be forgotten.
Do Good Anyway.
Give the best you have, and it will never be enough.
Give Your Best Anyway.

In the final analysis, it is between you and God.
It was never between you and them anyway.

Blessed Mother Theresa

A few years back we had a print out of this at our church. It's something that I have held onto and each morning I reflect on. It offers another view to my day and helps me to stand with a little more confidence in the knowledge that it was never between you and them anyway.

Robotics

Good morning,
For those of you who know what a wonderful organization FIRST Robotics is and are/ have participated in FIRST, it is so much fun and there is a lot to it. This will be my second year for FIRST and every year it gets more and more exciting.

This year my team,1561, would like to extend an oppurtunity to everyone out there to help spread the word about FIRST. We are going to start what we call Robotics Wednesday. Basically, every wednesday, you need to wear your uniform EVERYWHERE. That includes school, Walmart, and resturaunts. Everywhere you go the FIRST message should be clear for everyone to see.

If you could help it would be greatly appreciated.
